Across Scotland, people have been working together to improve support and outcomes for children, young people and their families.
The Scottish Government's Routemap and National Principles of Holistic Whole Family Support, developed with and for children and families in Scotland, set out four key drivers for change:
- Ensuring children and families are at the centre of decision-making and change
- Availability and access to services across communities
- Using a whole-system approach and joined-up support
- Supporting workforce development and culture
Understanding both the needs of children, young people and their families, and how services and processes are working, has been central to achieving these improvements.
In May 2026, CELCIS brought together colleagues working in East Lothian and Glasgow to hear about:
- Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership's (HSCP) use of a Leadership for Systems Change approach
- Partnership working in East Lothian to improve support for children and families
- Leadership experiences and collaborative decision-making in both areas
- New insights into the practical steps, techniques and tools that support effective collaborative working
